Addiction Counselor

Work duties may include performing substance use assessments, facilitating group counseling, Moral Reconation Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse and individual counseling in an outpatient setting in Spearfish, SD. Training in Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse (CBISA) and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) is preferred although training can be provided in these areas. Must have knowledge and practice of the 12 Core Functions of SA Counseling; Individual and group counseling skills; knowledge of potential referral sources; understanding of co-occurring disorders that may complicate recovery.
Must have basic computer skills and the ability to write clearly with attention to detail and be able to plan, prioritize and organize work.
Must have the ability to relate to others with compassion, respect and empathy to include staff, clients and referral source.
Certified or Licensed as Addiction Counselor OR Addiction Counselor Trainee with a Master’s Degree in Human Services and a minimum of 2 years experience with required course work in process or completed.
